IHBMA Home & Garden Show 2013

The Hardware/DIY Home Garden Trade Show 2013 will once again take place at the Citywest Exhibition Centre in Dublin on Sunday/Monday, 17 & 18 February, 2013. Even at this early stage over 70% of the available space has already been booked. The trade sector has emphatically endorsed the event with Amalgamated Hardware, Expert Hardware, Grafton Merchanting and the United Hardware Group all planning to participate in, and be in attendance at, the show.

The real strength of the Hardware/DIY Home & Garden Show is that it is not merely an exhibition but an industry showcase and forum featuring:

  • Stand displays
  • Workshops and seminars
  • New Product Awards
  • Product demonstrations
  • The IHBMA President’s Ball

The trading environment within the industry in Ireland has dramatically changed in recent years and the show reflects this. The three primary market segments are as follows:—

Hardware/DIY

Refurbishment is now the order of the day for householders in Ireland, most of whom are anxious not only to maintain their properties, but also to upgrade them to make them more comfortable and energy-efficient. This will undoubtedly yield returns for manufacturers supplying the sector.

Home

With less disposable income for major expenditure, householders are giving themselves smaller treats more often. Many of these are focused on the home and include everything from new cookers and appliances to cooking utensils, small kitchen appliances and decorative items. Many of these smaller items are also purchased as gifts.

Garden

Over the last decade the psyche of Irish society has changed dramatically in respect of peoples’ attitude to their homes and gardens. Effectively, more and more people in Ireland now view their gardens as an extension of the home, an outdoor room offering massive potential for pleasure and enjoyment. Consequently, it has given rise to a massive business opportunity that is a timely boost to the traditional hardware/diy outlet.

As always, the President’s Ball will kick off proceedings on the Saturday evening, 16 February, 2013. This is always a spectacular occasion but, given that 2013 marks the 75th anniversary of the IHBMA, it will be the biggest industry gathering ever assembled in the one location.
