Over 100 Exhibitors at Horticulture 2012 Northern Ireland

Horticulture Celebrates the Greenmount Centenary. 2012 sees the one hundredth year of education and training to the land-based industries at CAFRE’s Greenmount Campus. Since 1912, education and training programmes in agriculture, horticulture and, more recently in floristry and veterinary nursing, have been delivered to thousands of farm families and their workers.

Staff in Crops and Horticulture Development Branch will be marking this landmark year by organizing ‘Horticulture 2012’, an event which will include a trade exhibition, seminars, demonstrations and tours, based on the successful model that has been used recently to stage Renewable Energy Events at Greenmount Campus and Enniskillen Campus.

The seminars, demonstrations, tours and trade exhibition will cater for the varied needs of this vibrant and varied industry. With representation from the commercial horticulture industry, including vegetable, top fruit, nursery stock, and cut flowers sectors, along with landscapers, amenity and greenkeepers, this event promises to be a stimulating and informative day for all those attending.

Horticulture 2012 will take place on Wednesday 19 September 2012. The seminar programme is as comprehensive as any manager, owner, or employee of any small to medium sized enterprise could wish for. A selection of topics covered include agrochemical use, soil water and waste management, crop nutrition, renewable energy options, financial considerations for business development and strategies for improved business efficiency.

More than 50 trade stands are expected on the day providing you with a unique opportunity to consult the professionals on every aspect of horticulture supplies and services relevant to your business. There will also be specialist demonstrations throughout the day and scheduled tours around the horticulture facilities and grounds at Greenmount Campus,, with a view to providing a comprehensive range of facts, figures and perhaps a little inspiration for the future!

In this Greenmount centenary year, CAFRE’s Crops and Horticulture Branch would like to offer you the chance to get involved in the celebrations on behalf of horticulture in Northern Ireland.
