Roses are coming back into a full flush of buds and they are an excellent investment for autumn colour. Despite the bad weather, some of the rambling varieties thrive in damp conditions, for example, ‘Belvedere’, ‘Wedding Day’ and ‘New Dawn’, a favourite. In order to compete with other plants, rose breeders have introduced more disease-resistant roses, such as ‘Absolutely Fabulous’, ‘Easy Going’, ‘Fellowship’, ‘Betty Harkness’, ‘Tickle Pink’, ‘Rhapsody in Blue’, ‘Buxom Beauty’, ‘Blue for You’ and ‘Arthur Bell’, ‘Champagne Moment’ and ‘Moment in Time’. The popular red ‘Trumpeter’ can be in flower up to December.
