Nuffield Scholarship Opportunities for the Horticulture Sector

An Exceptional Opportunity for Forward Thinking Farmers and Agri-Business People. 2013 Irish Nuffield Farming Scholarships now open for application If you are a forward thinking, progressive individual involved in farming or agri-business, if you want to travel to research a topic which is important to you and if you believe you have what it takes to become a Nuffield Scholar, now is your chance to apply for one of the five 2013 Nuffield Farming Scholarship awards.

“The objective of the Irish Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust (NFST) is to identify future leaders of Irish Agriculture and facilitate their quest to bring about meaningful change for the benefit of their community”, Chairman Derek McCabe said.

Mr McCabe explained that thanks to NFST sponsors IFA, the Irish Farmers’ Journal, FBD, ICOS, The Peter Daly Trust with Dairymaster and LIC and Meat Industry Ireland up to five deserving applicants will be awarded a travel bursary of €10,000.00. “Successful applicants will first receive some training with fellow- Nuffield Scholars from around the world. After this initial stage, they will travel to research their topic of choice, and will be expected to prepare a comprehensive report, to be presented to the Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust , as well as various other Irish and international agricultural forums,” Mr McCabe said.

“As a Nuffield Scholar myself, I would heartily encourage farmers and agri-business employees to go for it and apply. A Nuffield Scholarship is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel, make firm friendships, discover cultures and how the business of agriculture is run the world over, and return personally enriched for the benefit of one’s community,” he said.

Application forms can downloaded from www.nuffield.ie or obtained by emailing mattryan@nuffield .ie and must be returned by Friday 2nd November either by email or posted to the Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust, C/O Matt Ryan Executive Secretary, Rathmartin Rd, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.
