          A new path for pesticide assessment | European Food Safety Authority

          It is one of the most debated questions in chemical risk assessment: can exposure to chemicals such as pesticides cause ill health in humans? Scientists currently rely on experimental toxicology evidence, such as animal or cell studies, to assess their safety. A new approach proposed by EFSA will help further our understanding by making better use of epidemiological studies on human health.

                New Application for Tracking Invasive Alien Species with Your Smartphone

                The JRC has developed a smartphone app that will help citizens to capture and share information about 37 invasive alien species of Union concern in Europe. The 'Invasive Alien Species Europe' app, which contains detailed information and photos of those plants and animals, makes it possible for citizens to use their phones' GPS system and camera to capture images of them.

                  An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, T.D., and Andrew Doyle, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, with responsibility for forestry, opened the new improved ‘NeighbourWood’ at Balla, Co. Mayo, recently (Monday).
