Two Wildflower Growers Open Days in 2017

Master class: Farm and Crop Walk, Demo and Talk by Sandro Cafolla, 25 years growing wildflowers in Ireland

Venue: Urlingford, Co Tipperary

Date: June 20th and July 15th, 2017.
Time: 10.30 am to 4pm, lunch-time 1pm - 1.45pm

Price: €50 per car, team or business, bring as many as you like, Individuals €25.00, Everyone who pays goes home with free seed to value of €25.00

You are invited to a talk by Sandro Cafolla on all aspects of growing wildflowers.
The day will reveal the most up to date experiences and results of 25 years wildflower growing and research in Ireland, Sandro will tell all about growing and maintaining wildflower meadows and individual species.

Topics covered will include:
Site selection, Seed bed preparation, seed sowing, germination, first cut, first years and long term maintenance and much more.
As the farm contains wildflower crops, you will get close up to the species, look at weed killing, how to prepare a site for wildflowers.

An ideal outing for gardeners, farmers, farm advisor, conservationists, biodiversity, tourism. tidy towns, nature loving wildlife attractors, horticulturists, and wildflower lovers.
Share your own experience and Sandro and friends can point you in the right way, bring soil samples and photos.

A talk on growing wildflowers. the results of 30 years research and activism

(This is not a family-friendly outing, as there will be little to do for kids and lots of professional chat)

Meet at 10 am at Mary Willies Pub - Car park Urlingford. Co Tipperary. - Off the N8 south of Urlingford, (old Cork Road) see map below

DBN staff will direct traffic in small / groups numbers to the site and parking in the large field is free.

No Food or Water on the site:' It's a field...

Bring your own lunch and beverages, and meet a great group of like-minded gathering people in fields filled with wildflowers.
Sandro who has 25-year experience and can talk with the gift o'de gab is well known for his inspirational talks and gives away freebie seed packets to those who answer questions.

FBD will not insure children under 18 years old.

Food, No catering will be provided, lunch will be 45 min break, so bring your own food and refreshments.
Clothing: As the field is wide open, even on a sunny day, it can be chilly if the wind is blowing, bring protective clothing and a warm coat.
Children and Pets: We really cannot accommodate pets as the farm has two dogs, also the day is unsuitable for children as we will be standing about talking.

Seed: will be made available free and for sale

Soil samples: Bring soil samples if you require specific advice.

laptop photos are acceptable for growers who have succeeded and can be shared at lunchtime and after.

We will be meeting at the car park of The famous Mary Willies Pub off the R639 south (Cork side ) of Urlingford, about 1 mile out.
at 10 am, Cars will be then brought to the farm in relays. There is plenty of parking space on the farm.
