Epimedium offers a spectrum from shades of pink and strong reds to white and yellow options too. Epimedium grandiflorum has a number of excellent cultivars including ‘Nanum’ (white flowers), ‘Rose Queen’ (deep pink flowers) and ‘White Queen’ (large white flowers).

Dicentra tends to bloom a little later than the others. Flowers may be pink, crimson yellow or white. Dicentra spectablis bears these on long, arching stems and is known to be a great performer.
