The Netherlands: Future Horti Fair Uncertain

It is unlikely that the Horti Fair will be organised this year. Various sources say that the Dutch horticultural fair, which attracted around 60.000 visitors in its glory day, will even close its doors forever. Different sources says that the personal of the Horti Fair will soon be laid off. In the 'Bloemenkrant' HortiFair director Willem Luuk Nijdam says that the fair is not bankrupt. After Easter, the Horti Fair will discuss further about the present situation.

The problems of the Horti Fair began in 2010, when another fair - the IFTF – started in Vijfhuizen. Nearly all breeders moved from the Horti Fair to this fair. A second blow were problems to organise the fair at the FloraHolland location in Aalsmeer. Participants were not happy to expose in a tent and there was a financial point of difference with the auction about the costs for a new parking place.
