Fitzgerald Nurseries 'Old Irish Primrose' Range to be Listed in Spring 2014 in USA Home Depot Stores

Great news again from USA for Irish Primrose varieties Drumcliff and Innisfree and a first in Irish Ornamental Horticulture. These two new unique dark foliage Irish bred Primrose varieties have been added to their plant range by USA Garden and DIY retailer Home Depot in selected stores for Spring 2014. As we speak plants are being grown locally in USA for 2014. Our Irish American cousins can now have an Irish garden heritage plant and gardeners favourite Irish Primrose for St Patricks Day!

The first Kennedy Irish Primrose varieties were launched in 2011 as part of a full Irish Primrose conservation programme undertaken by FitzGerald Nurseries Ltd with support of An Bord Bia Innovation programme. Various old and new Irish Primroses are being developed, resurrected and brought back into popular gardening culture.

This labour of love, horticultural science and international nursery collaboration introduces Irish gardening heritage to gardens and balconies all over the world. The Irish Primrose™ promotion has reached as far away as Japan where 40,000 plants are available later this year, Australia where garden trials take place this year near Melbourne, from Sweden to the Swiss Alps all over Europe where plants are now available in most European countries and of course USA. Many international plant experts and organisations have commended very positively on this Irish Primrose™ range and Primula Claddagh received a prestigious international award as best perennial at IPM Essen 2013.

IPM is the largest Horticultural Trade Show in the world and held every year in Essen Germany. Plants of the Irish Primrose™ range have even been presented in the White House as Irish state gifts in 2011 and 2013 and now more readily available to the wider USA gardening public in Spring 2014. To keep up to date with breaking news you can see www.irishprimrose.com .
