Trade Challenges FloraHolland for Court

A group of fifty flowers-and plantstraders claims in court that the clock rates for 2014 of FloraHolland has to be withdraw. That reports the VGB, the trade association of wholesale flowers and plants, which supports the group. The group said that the flower rates adopted unilaterally. Therefore they are confronted with unreasonable cost increases up to 250 percent. The group that goes to court consists of flower and plant dealers, large and small enterprises are buying at auction sites in Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk and Rijnsburg. The group relies on an item in the Auction Rules that says if the VGB does not agree with the announced new tariffs, stakeholders (traders) have the ability to destroy to submit to the court this.

The VGB represents the interests of the wholesale companies on behalf of and with the merchants consults and negotiates with the auction. Before the end of 2012, a group of traders FloraHolland threatened with a lawsuit to the tariffs unilaterally set by the auction for 2013 to get destroyed. The VGB did not negotiated with FloraHolland about these tariffs. At the last moment FloraHolland spoke with the VGB off the clock rates for 2013 and they were reversed, the other tariff changes have been made. It was also agreed that a joint working group of trade and auction would go for alternatives to the harmonized package clock rates.

The prior conditions set by FloraHolland offered no room for an alternative proposal that could get support from both trade and auction. Then the auction made the clock rates for 2014 without consensus from VGB. because of the ne clock rates more than 60% of traders to even pay 250% more. There is also a group of traders who are going to pay less to much less.
