Ireland Gets New Vision - John Stanley

According to many experts the number of independent garden centres around the world will be halved in the next five years. This will happen even though consumers want to support local businesses rather than global giants. This was part of a discussion John Stanley had with the American Nursery Association last November and it was felt that it was important for leading independent garden centres to share ideas to develop their businesses.

As a result the New Vision forum was developed by John as a two day forum where ideas were shared and developed. Over the last few months groups of 25 garden centre owners have gathered to develop their New Vision in the USA, South Africa, Czech, Australia, New Zealand and UK. Plus John has New Vision workshops to develop for independent garden centres in Italy, Holland and Poland.

In September John held the Irish New Vision forum in Dublin for Irish garden centres prior to travelling to Italy to present to the Italian garden centres.
Although John has been over booked in other countries and have to put a limit on the number of delegates ,alas, this was not the case in Ireland and as a result the attendees had personnel attention which meant they got even more out of the two days and develop a market edge over those that were unable to attend.

The forum agreement is that information shared in the forum is confidential, but the programme covers financial management, marketing, retail development and team development strategies.

According to delegates this is one of the most intensive two days they have spend developing their business, but the results allow them to have a clear vision of the developments they need to take place. The timing is critically important as now is the time for progressive independent garden centres to develop exciting strategies to grow sales.

John Stanley is a Conference Speaker and Consultant. In 2012 he was awarded the WA Small Business exporter of the Year.
