The Irish Florist Guild trade day and competition takes place this Sunday which will include florists entering a wide range of competitions. There will also be workshops and trade stands. Its a day not to be missed if you are a professional florist. Garden Designers from across Ireland will converge in Dublin this week as they prepare submission's for gardens at Bloom in the Park 2015. It's not for the fainthearted, as readers of the recent Horticulture Connected Journal article, 'How to Design & Build a Show Stopper' will know. It's something that I would aspire to myself, but going through that process in my head is wearing enough for me. The Designing - The Sponsorship - The Building - The Winning! - The Breaking and then - The Catching Up with Business. Any one of those stages defeats me. I have a saying that "I'm not brave enough to be a retailer, mad enough to be a grower and show garden designers? - I don't have a word for them". They are a unique bunch of people with a drive and a passion to bring an idea outside of thier head and into the pysical world for us all to enjoy.
