Nominations for the Show Your Colours Award IPM 2015 Announced

At the 2015 international trade fair for plants (IPM) in Essen, Germany, the Show Your Colours Award IPM 2015 will once again be awarded for the best story behind the product. Participants in the IPM were invited to enter their plants with a story and a total of 27 applications were received from various countries. From these applications, ten plants/stories were selected to ultimately compete for the Show Your Colours Award IPM 2015.

Nominations

The nominated plants are as follows: Buddleja Bloomtastic! Dreaming Lavender / Butterfly Wall ('Hinebud1') van Boomkwekerij Cees Koemans, Boskoop (NL), Carpinus betulus Rockhampton Red ('Lockglo') van Batouwe Boomkwekerijen bv, Dodewaard (NL), Cupressus macrocarpa 'Púbol Pendula Aurea' van Vivers Planas, SL, Celrà, Girona (Sp), Family Tree van Fruithof bv, Kapelle (NL), Floatingplants mixed/glass vase van R. Moerings bv, Roosendaal. (NL), Hydrangea macrophylla Music Collection® van De Jong Plant bv, Boskoop (NL), Rhododendron Bloombux® ('Microhirs3') van Joh. Stolwijk & Söhne, Boskoop (NL) en Diderk Heinje Pflanzenhandelsges. mbH & Co KG., Jeddeloh (DE), Ribes sanguineum Amore ('Annys2003') van Van Son & Koot bv, Kaatsheuvel (NL), Rosa Babylon Eyes® van Gebr. Seuren rozenkwekerijen bv, Lottum (NL), Sarcococca humilis Winter Gem ('Pmoore03') van Plantipp bv, IJsselstein, (NL).

The story behind the plant

The aim of the competition is to tell the story behind the plant. Plants are already attractive in themselves, but it is precisely the story behind the plant which can add value and make consumers even more likely to buy the plant. With so many international participants, the IPM trade fair is an ideal platform for profiling the importance of the story behind the plant, also at an international level.

Online voting

Before the fair opens, you can vote for the ten nominees online. The websites www.IPM-essen.de and www.bizzcommunications.nl will feature links which take visitors directly to the poll. The poll will be online from week 3 (12 January 2015) onwards. At the fair, visitors can also vote using tokens until the end of Thursday morning. On Thursday afternoon, the plants and their stories will be assessed by a trade jury. The verdict of the jury, together with the votes received via the poll and the tokens, will ultimately produce one winner. The award ceremony will take place at around 3.30 pm on the afternoon of Thursday 29 January, on the BIZZ Holland stand (stand number 12A13).
