HortiTrends - Bord Bia Horticulture Awards - Allianz Garden Show Ireland Launch - New Trolley Fair - Teagasc Open Day - March 13th

Todays Bord Bia Horticulture Awards Winners will be celebrating the achievement with their staff, while the marketing savvy businesses among them, will be promoting their win to existing and potential new customers. The awards are coming on the back of some positive figures - Bord Bia Research Finds Irish people Spend €631 Million on Their Gardens. We can also attest to this growth, based on the number of new jobs that are we are advertising on Jobsinhorticulture.ie These new positions are being led by the landscape sector, followed by garden retail along with increasing numbers of nurseries.

I recently attended the 2015 Allianz Garden Show Ireland Launch. It was love at first site for the event and the outstanding venue, that is Antrim Castle. Visitors to the show last year, have been coming back to the venue throughout the year and have also been spreading the word about the splendid gardens and facilities. The move has proven to be also very good for Exhibitors who have remained loyal to the unique show over the last 11 years. They like us are interested in the population base of 1.8 million people in Northern Ireland that the show serves. Another boost for the show has been the vote of confidence by Allianz who have come on board, as the main sponsor of the show for 2015.

Kelly's Nurseries Open Day is another plant buying opportunity on the horticulture calendar for garden retailers and landscapers across Ireland. Also there on the day will be O'Dowd's, Bolands and Ravensberg, offering buyers a full range of plants for the coming season. If the selection of plants are not enough to entice you, then a BBQ throughout the day along with the chance to win €1000 worth of plants are an added attraction.

The College of Amenity Horticulture Open Day takes place on the 19th of March. Its an opportunity for potential students to meet with staff and current students along with the OPW staff who tend to the gardens. With new buildings and the spectacular gardens to inspire, it remains a popular choice with the future horticulturists of Ireland.
