On This Weeks Garden Radio:
Peter Donegan talks with Claire O'Connell, a freelance journalist based in Dublin who writes for The Irish Times on science and health, as well as features and news on science, health and innovation. My extensive research copied straight from Claire's blog tells me Claire studied Botany and then did a PhD in cell biology at University College Dublin on gene regulation and morphology in mammary cells. Next she worked as a post-doc in Glasgow (looking at the 'kidneys' of fruit flies); and in Sydney, where she got to peer deep inside brain tissues. Claire spent the next 5 years as a technical writer, before starting to write freelance for The Irish Times [2005] and other publications. In 2008 she graduated with a Masters in Science Communication from Dublin City University. Her thesis was on the use of biography to communicate science to a wide audience.
