It's Garden Time Spring Campaign
- 01 March 2013
Bord Bia is delighted to announce the launch of a dedicated gardening campaign, aimed at encouraging and inspiring consumers to get out in their gardens, following the poor weather of last year. Running under the strapline of 'It's Garden Time', the campaign will highlight the benefits of plants at key times of the year, with a series of 10 themes focusing on specific plants for enjoying at that time. The campaign is fully supported by the four industry bodies, the ALCI, GLDA, GCAI and IHNSA who will be encouraging their members to utilize the point of sale material available from Bord Bia, and to organize events and promotions around each theme.
The first theme 'Trees' will kick start the campaign, to tie in with National Tree Week, running from 3rd to 10th March, highlighting the benefits of trees in the garden. A series of events will take place in garden centres around the country including tree planting demonstrations, information sessions and displays of trees suitable for every size of garden.
The message:
Put Down Some Roots – it's as easy as 1,2, TREE
In addition to being ornamental, trees and shrubs provide privacy and shade. They screen eyesores and provide
habitats for wildlife. Long-lived, they need little attention once they are established. In terms of garden design, aim to have a combination of different shapes, contrasting colours of foliage and specimens that will provide interest
at different times of the year.
A series of stories will be developed around key themes for gardening activities for release at specific times of the year, and will offer advice and tips on how to get the best from your garden so consumers can relax and enjoy their efforts in the summer months.
A dedicated web page www.bordbia.ie/itsGardenTime supports the campaign topics with handy hints and interesting facts. The website includes a garden centre events listing and the 'It's Garden Time' logo that will feature on point of sale in garden centres across the country.
The PR tools and graphics will be available for the industry to download from Industry Services/It's Garden Time area of the Bord Bia website:
