Each year, Dutch plant nurseries use millions of kilos of plastic plant pots. Together with flowerpot manufacturer Desch Plantpak, Wageningen UR has developed a plant-based and compostable flowerpot. It does the job just as well as a plastic pot. The compostable pots are made from polylactic acid, which is extracted from various crops and waste flows.
