Florals on the High Street

The trend for floral fashions is continuing this autumn, as shops fill their racks with pretty prints and striking garden-inspired designs. Here is a guide to five shops on the high street that are the pick of the bunch when it comes to petal power.

Cath Kidston

Cath Kidston shops have been sprouting up all over the UK in recent years as the business, which is celebrating its 20th birthday this year, goes from strength to strength. This is shop heaven for anyone who loves wearing florals, as you can get everything from dresses and skirts to handbags, hats, bed socks and numerous other accessories. The store also sells some nice pieces of jewellery, so you can dress from head to toe in florals should you wish – and even sleep in them too.

Laura Ashley

This long-established high-street favourite is synonymous with floral fashions, and it too is celebrating a big birthday this year. It’s 60 years since Welsh housewife Laura Ashley started her clothing line from a printing press in her kitchen, and the company continues to kit out women all over the world. Its latest fashion collections are inspired by nature, so if you like subtle earthy tones it may have just the thing you’re looking for.

Joules

If you’re a country bumpkin at heart, Joules is the perfect place to find everything you need for messing around in the mud and hay, while looking stylish throughout the day. Joules clothing is known for its quality, tailored-look finish, but without the designer prices. Floral wellies are a must for rainy days, and you can lounge around in a patterned onesie on those days when it’s just too much effort to get dressed.

Zara

A favourite of the Duchess of Cambridge, Zara has all the latest catwalk trends at affordable prices, so you don’t have to be on a supermodel’s wage to look glamorous. The Spanish store embraces flower power in many of its clothes, including dresses, skirts, jackets, blouses, shorts and scarves, so you can wear as much – or as little – floral-inspired fashion as you like.

River Island

If you like to keep up with the latest trends,River Island has up-to-the-minute styles that will make you stand out from the crowd – in a good way! Like Zara, it has a wide selection of floral pieces, whether you want to get in touch with your wild side with some bold, colourful designs, or prefer more delicate intricate patterns in pastel shades.
