The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) recently hosted a careers fair at Loughry Campus for their food and agriculture students. The Agri-Food industry is one of the largest employers in Northern Ireland, offering a wide range of career opportunities at various levels. The main aim of this event was to highlight the vast range of careers that can be pursued by students studying on food courses at Loughry Campus and agriculture courses at Greenmount Campus.

At the event, students had the opportunity to attend presentations from industry representatives and to visit company exhibitions to discuss potential careers opportunities. The students were also able to talk to companies about potential placement opportunities.

The event was well attended by representatives from a wide range of businesses within the Agri-Food sector, some of whom were former CAFRE graduates. Companies in attendance included Coca Cola, Dale Farm, Devenish Nutrition, Dunbia, Fane Valley, Genesis Breads, Glanbia, John Thompson and Sons, Kilco (International), Mash Direct and Moy Park.

The success of this event demonstrates the strong links that CAFRE has with the Agri-Food industry and the support that they give to the range of courses on offer at the College.

Employability is a key feature of CAFRE programmes. The practical skills developed across all courses from National Diploma to Honours Degree level, added to close links with the Agri-Food Industry, mean that CAFRE students have a very high success rate when job hunting.

If you are interested in finding out more about the wide range of courses on offer, why not come along to our Spring Open Days which are being held at Loughry Campus today Tuesday 23 April 2013 from 3pm to 8pm, and at Greenmount Campus on Wednesday 24 April 2013 from 2 to 9pm.
