Breath Of Fresh Aeration From The New AIR2G2

NEW to the UK and European market is the Air2G2 Injection Aerator introduced by Campey Turf Care Systems based in Macclesfield, Cheshire.  The first one in the UK has been purchased by Fine Turf Services, a Specialist Sports Turf Contractor based in Knutsford, in the same county.  This machine has caused quite a stir in the fine sportsturf maintenance industry and we asked Richard Campey why the Air2G2 is having such an impact.

Why are you doing this show? Is it to sell product, get leads, create top of mind awareness, or to preempt your competition? Be sure to have a very specific goal in mind, write it out and track your results as the show progresses. Without a specific goal in mind it will be impossible to determine if the trade show was a success.

The first Institute of Horticulture (IoH) Ireland Education Day was held at University College Dublin on the 25 June 2013. This day-long event was the first gathering of horticulture educationalists from educational institutions in Ireland. The meeting was organised by the Ireland Branch of the Institute of Horticulture.

Coillte

Statement on Government Decision Regarding the Sale of Harvesting Rights

Coillte fully supports today’s Government decision in relation to the proposed sale of harvesting rights and the restructuring of Coillte to enhance its performance and contribution to the State. As part of this restructuring process, Coillte will participate fully and proactively in evaluating how to give effect to a beneficial merger of Coillte with Bord na Mona to create a strong commercial state company operating in the bio-energy and forestry sectors, as committed to in the Programme for Government.

Cabinet Decision on Coillte – Coveney

Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney recently announced the Government decision in relation to the proposed sale of Coillte Harvesting Rights. The Minister said that:

…at its meeting today, the Government decided that now is not the appropriate time to proceed with the sale of harvesting rights in Coillte and that the current focus must be on the restructuring of Coillte, overseen by NewERA and the relevant stakeholder Departments.

The New Man for Horticulture & Food - Profile & Contact info for Tom Hayes TD

On the 5th June Tom Hayes was appointed as a Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine. Deputy Hayes has served as Chairperson of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party since September 2002; he was re-elected in this capacity from September 2007 until March 2010. Deputy Hayes was returned to the 30th Dáil in May 2002, and in May 2007.

InterTradeIreland Business Monitor Q1 2013

InterTradeIreland’s latest quarterly Business Monitor published today (Sunday 19th May), indicates that 36% of businesses expect that over a quarter of their sales will not be paid on time. Furthermore, over half (53%) of businesses have some debtors of over 90 days. As only 4% of businesses give 90 days credit, many firms are spending time chasing payments to avoid an impact on cashflow.

John Deere: Europe's Biggest Gator Fleet

Leading national plant and equipment hire company Morris Leslie Group, based in Perthshire and with nine depots throughout the UK, has recently expanded its hire fleet with the addition of 50 new John Deere HPX Gator 4x4 utility vehicles, ordered from Oxfordshire based dealer Farol Ltd. In what is the biggest individual order ever made for Gators in the UK, these new models join another 30 HPXs bought in 2012. Together with older Gators, this brings the total number of John Deere utility vehicles in the Morris Leslie fleet to 140, making it the biggest Gator hire fleet in Europe.

Appointment of Deputy Tom Hayes as Minister of State for Food & Horticulture

The Government appointed Deputy Tom Hayes as Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine. Minister of State Hayes will assume the role held by the late Shane McEntee and will have special responsibility for Forestry, Horticulture, the Greyhound Industry and Food Safety. The new Minister of State is a beef farmer from Golden, Co Tipperary. He has served as a Dail deputy for Tipperary South since his election in a bye election in 2001. He previously served as a member of Seanad Eireann from 1997 to 2001.

1. What is the JobBridge the National Internship Scheme?
JobBridge, the National Internship Scheme (NIS) is a Government initiative designed  to offer jobseekers who have a live claim and have been in receipt of Jobseekers  Allowance/Jobseekers Benefit/One Parent Family Payment/Disability Allowance or  signing for Social Insurance Contribution Credits for at least 3 months (78 days), the  opportunity to enhance their current skills and develop new ones. The duration of  individual internship positions will be a 6 month or a 9 month placement.
