"Grower Academy is our Partnership for the Producer and the Entire Supply Chain" Monsanto

 

Monsanto is a leading global provider of seeds, technology solutions and innovation for agriculture. Today, with the "Grower Academy" it becomes much more: a strategic partnership within the supply chain, supporting all those involved in the direction of a greater competitiveness. Francesco Boccia, Marketing Manager in Italy at the Vegetable Seeds division of the US multinational explains about the Grower Academy. 

FreshPlaza (FP) - How did the initiative "Grower Academy" start?

Francesco Boccia (FB) - We wanted to develop a sort of "Monsanto academy" that can exploit and build on our experience, along with that of opinion leaders and professionals, bringing it to the service of produce world.

FP - What do you aim at?

FB - The primary objective is to position Monsanto as true partner in the supply chain, in the guise of a company able to provide significant added value to the producer and the organization involved in the marketing of Seminis and De Ruiter varieties. The underlying philosophy is a "win-win" one: we can grow only if everybody grows.

Thanks to this teamwork we believe it is possible to improve the "customer experience" with Monsanto, making it unique and a lot more than just the provision of a seed. We know that the seed is our promise for a productive future and quality, but we also believe that there should be much more to make this experience unique and capable of sustaining the world of production from planting to marketing the product.

FP - What is this initiative?

FB - There are several values ​​and principles upon which the "Grower Academy" operates and various facets it may have, for example by providing real training, organizing round tables to help create moments of discussion, provide inspiration and focusing on networking to give access to the productive world to representatives of the retail sector.

I strongly believe that, especially in these times where competitiveness is a key requirement, it is important that a company like Monsanto provide the manufacturer or simple farmer with more tools to elevate his position within the production chain. In doing so, also a little farmer will feel more and more as a real entrepreneur and a manager.

We started only recently with this new experience, being involved daily with producers and farmers and I believe that thanks to this opportunity for dialogue, listening and sharing it is possible to grow together and give the world more and more quality in the product and service, which is now increasingly making the difference and gives a high added value.
